Wexler Calls for Impeachment, Cheney First

Dennis Kucinich's bill (H.R. 799) to initiate impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney just got a big boost. Robert Wexler, Congressman from Florida, set up an online petition calling for immediate hearings.

The House Judiciary Committeee has ignored Kucinich's bill for 8 months now.

Relatedly, Wexler and two other Congresspeople wrote an opinion piece that several major newspapers have so far refused to print. Reps Gutierrez (D-IL) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) joined Wexler in their opinion that impeachment proceedings should begin immediately. Their letter coincides with the view of those of us at BushScrewedAmerica.com - that if the Republicans could drag the country through impeachment hearings for the Clinton scandal, it is absolutely required that we hold impeachment hearings for crimes that are so much worse. But mainstream news sources are ignoring the groundswell of support for impeachment. Prolific impeachment supporter David Lindorff writes about it here. (There is also a great listing of all members of the Judiciary Committee - the people holding the keys to the kingdom right now.)

Please sign Wexler's petition and contact your representatives asking them to support impeachment hearings.
